OXFORD JUNCTION--Vern L. Cram, 78, Oxford Junction, died Thursday evening, Oct. 3, in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, after suffering a stroke.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m., at the Hayden Funeral home, Oxford Junction. Rev. Ramon Booth conducted the service. Graveside services were conducted by members of the Knights of Pythias lodge. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Pallbearers included Charles Sheldon, Ed Shimanek, Fred Petersen, John Burda, Fred Harms and Otto Ziehlke.

He was born Oct. 18, 1884, son of Landon and Mary French Cram, Smithstown community, Clinton.

He was married Oct. 10, 1911, to Mildred Pegorek, Oxford Junction. Couple had always made their home in Oxford Junction. Mr. Cram served as a bulk oil salesman for many years before retiring in 1955.

Survivors include one daughter, Carmel, Mrs. Lester Meyer, Olin; two grandchildren, Jay Meyer, Olin, and Mrs. Richard Mitchel, Maquoketa; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Ford Cram, Oxford Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers and a sister.
