Funeral service for David E. Clark, 71, who died early Sunday at the home of his brother, Burtie Clark, was held at the Martelle Methodist church Tuesday. Rev. Trevor Baskerville, Central City, officiated at the service. Burial was in Linn Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lowell Kohl, Elmer James, Frank Calvert, Ivan Remington, William Ferguson and Charles Darsee. Loder Funeral home, Anamosa, was in charge of arrangements.

David Ellsworth Clark, son of David and Mary Ann Clark, was born two miles southwest of Martelle on the home place, Dec. 31, 1872. As one of nine children, he grew to manhood in the community of his birth, where his entire life was spent. Besides his parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. His father died in 1900, and his mother in 1920.

At the age of 33 years he united with the Martelle Methodist church. Surviving are three brothers, R. L., B. J., and R.E., four nieces, 13 nephews, six grand-nieces, eight grandnephews.
