OXFORD JUNCTION--Funeral service for John C. Latare, 81, was held Tuesday afternoon from the late home at Oxford Junction at one o'clock, and from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church at Wyoming at two o'clock. The Rev. Herbert Graening had charge of the service. Music was by a girls' quartet consisting of Darlene Day, Marilyn Herzberger, Bernice Brunscheen and Carmen Ingwersen, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Luella Bahnsen. Floral offerings were in charge of Miss Christina Ahrendsen, Mrs. Carl Lorenzen, Mrs. Louis Ledvina and Erna Petersen.

Pallbearers were all nephews of the deceased: Peter Sievers, Wyoming; John M. Petersen and August Latare, Olin; Emil Friedrichsen, Mechanicsville; Carl Seehusen, Center Junction, and John Latare, Masonville. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery near Oxford Junction.

John C. Latare died early Sunday morning at the University hospital, Iowa City, where he had been taken a week ago for treatment. He was born in Germany, June 13, 1862, and came to America when a young man. He was married to Martha Friedrichsen at Oxford Junction, Feb. 27, 1894.

They engaged in farming for many years near Oxford Junction. Mrs. Latare died in 1915, and in 1925 Mr. Latare retired making his home in Wyoming and in Oxford Junction. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, Wyoming.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Sophia Rohwedder, Olin; Mrs. Emma Robertson, Springville; three sons, Jens and Fred, Oxford Junction; and Rudolph, Mount Pleasant; one brother, Peter Latare, Olin, and 12 grandchildren.
