Mrs. Jean D. Gardner, 89, died Saturday, April 25, at the Stoecker Custodial home, Anamosa, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 28, at 1:30 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. Robert Cleveland will conduct the service. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.

She was born March 16, 1875, daughter of Edward Atkinson and Cynthia Porter Atkinson, Anamosa. She was married Jan. 28, 1918, to Charles Gardner of Anamosa. She lived her married life in Cortland, Nebr. She returned to Anamosa 12 years ago to make her home with her brother.

She was a member of Mt. Moriah chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Anamosa.

Survivors include a brother, Arthur Atkinson, and a niece, Mrs. Charles Meyers, Solon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
