OXFORD JUNCTION--Final rites for John Stuhr, 59, were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Fred C. Maurer was in charge. Singers, Mrs. Fred Sacora, Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen and Mrs. Fred Lasack, sang "The Lord is My Shepherd" "He Hideth My Soul" and "Under His Wings." Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Ed Clausen, Mrs. C. H. Jones and Mrs. Otto Koranda. Those serving as pallbearers were Harold Klahn, Ed Clausen, Fred Wasoba, G. J. Bees, Fred Harms and Will Klahn. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

John Stuhr died Wednesday evening, Jan. 19, in Mercy hospital, Anamosa, where he had been for the last week. He had been in poor health for the last year. He was born July 2, 1884, at Wheatland, son of Henry and Elizabeth Stuhr. He had lived here since he was three years old.

He was united in marriage to Grace Cave August 23, 1923, and had been employed as a rural mail carrier out of Oxford Junction from 1905, until November, 1942, when he retired. He had been baptised in the Lutheran faith, and was a member of the rural letter carriers association and the Iowa Fireman's association.

He is survived by his wife, one son, John s2c in the U.S. Navy, somewhere at sea; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Hart, Ames; Mrs. Emma Mulville, Oxford Junction; Mrs. Margaret Brown, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Harriet Patterson, Cedar Rapids; and three brothers, Henry Stuhr, Bennett, and Herman and Ed, Los Angeles.

Relatives present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sthur and family, Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Altie Hart, Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Patterson, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Cave, Mount Vernon; Attorney and Mrs. James Cave, Peoria, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Tebbe, Manchester and Mrs. Frank Cash and daughters, Virginia and Georgianne, Cedar Rapids.
