George Lester Haverly, 51, who died Saturday at 10 p.m. at his home in Oskaloosa, was buried Tuesday at Riverside cemetery, Anamosa. Service, conducted Rev. Edgar L. Knight, pastor of the First Congregational church of Oskaloosa, was held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Wilcox Garland chapel there.

He was born at Cedar Rapids, Sept. 1, 1892, son of George and Edna Haverly. He attended the public schools in Cedar Rapids and Anamosa. In March, 1942, he married Blanche Brackley, Oskaloosa. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist church in Oskaloosa.

He was employed as a fireman by the Milwaukee and St. Louis railroad at the time of his death. Earlier he had followed the same occupation on the Rock Island line. He was expecting promotion to engineer in two weeks.

Surviving are his wife, one brother, James, Anamosa; and two aunts, Mrs. Pearl Hoffman and Mrs. Esther Vowles, Anamosa. His parents and a brother, Ernest, preceded him in death.
