HALE--M. E. Wooder, 81, died at his home in Hale, Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. following a lingering illness. Funeral service was held at the Hale Methodist church Saturday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. William Strait. Earl Phillips sang, accompanied by Mrs. Gerald Kruse. Burial was in the Hale cemetery. Frank L. Harrington, Wyoming, was in charge of the service.

Pallbearers were: Chris Paulsen, John Heinken, Clarence Huston, Wallace H. Cruise, Luther Inglis and William Finkenbinder.

MacClellan Ellsworth Wooder, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wooder, was born near Lebanon, Ohio, June 16, 1862. He came to Hale, Iowa, as a young man.

On July 12, 1884 he was married to Cara Belle Green, Olin. The home was made on a farm in Hale township. Later he worked on the railroad.

He is survived by his widow, a daughter Mrs. Frances France; three sons, Frank, Davenport; Cecil, Oxford Junction; Harry, Los Angeles, California; an adopted son, George Wooder, Morley; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Cruise, Olin; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Three children: Earl, Jimmie and Mrs. Sadie Sweet, preceded him in death.
