Most tragic accident in Jones county in the new year occurred Monday at 3:30 a.m. on highway 64, three miles east of Wyoming, when three persons lost their lives and four others were injured, two seriously, in an auto crash.

Mrs. Luverne Carson, 29, was killed instantly when the Chevrolet sedan in which she was riding crashed into a truck-trailer parked at side of the highway. Two others died later in Mercy hospital, Anamosa, as a result of injuries received.

The dead all of Oxford Junction: Mrs. Luverne Carson, 29, Luverne Carson, 28, Gerald Sobtka, 31.

The injured: John Buresh, driver of the car, Mrs. Lula Buresh, his wife, Delores Shedek and Arnold Sobotka, all of Oxford Junction.

Gerald Sobotka, who died at 4 p.m. Monday, was employed at the Williams cafe in Oxford Junction. He was recently discharged from the Seabees because of physical disability.

Surviving are his father, Vince Sobotka; two brothers, Cpl. Raymond Sobotka in Alaska and Cadet Stanley Sobotka, with the merchant marine at Boston; two sisters, Mrs. Louisa Stewart, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Marita Alberts, Davenport.

Mr. and Mrs. John Buresh are still confined to Mercy hospital, Anamosa. Miss Delores Shedek and Arnold Sobotka, cousin of Gerald Sobotka, are recuperating at their homes. Miss Shedek is a beauty operator and Arnold is the operator at the Milwaukee railroad station in Oxford Junction.
