OXFORD JUNCTION--Joe Benischek, 65, died at the Mercy hospital at Anamosa last Thursday, June 3, after a long illness. He was born in Austria on Aug. 3, 1877, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Benischek. He came to America with his parents when he was a year old. He had engaged in farming for many years and recently retired to Oxford Junction.

Funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Hayden Funeral home. Rev. J. K. Delahooke, Anamosa, conducted the service assisted at the grave by members of the Z. C. B. J. lodge.

Mrs. Fred Sacara and Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen sang, accompanied by Mrs. G. J. Bees.

Serving as pallbearers were: Otto Stratilek, James Homolka, Joseph Kotlinek, Henry Koranda, Charles Sheldon and Frank Nowachek.

Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery. He is survived by five brothers, Louis, Tom, Martin, John and Henry, all living in Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. Paul Groth and Mrs. Alfred Groth, Olin, and Mrs. John Martin, Center Junction.
