Nettie Mae Bailey, eldest child of Phillip and Catherine Peters Bailey, was born in Jackson township, Jones county on Dec.8, 1886 and departed this life on May 6, 1943 in the 56th year. Her entire life has been spent in her home community.

She was married to Grover C. Preston on Nov. 18, 1908, and to them one daughter, Leona, wife of Clifford Crow of Anamosa, was born.

These and a grandson Eddie Crow, together with three sisters, Mrs. George Andrews, Center Junction; Mrs. Carl Husmann, Anamosa; Miss Dora Bailey, Amber, and her aged father are left to mourn her passing. Her mother preceded her in death many years ago and two brothers, Phillip, jr., and Henry, some two years ago.

From her youth she had been an active member of Amber Presbyterian church.

Having suffered a severe illness abut a year ago she had never fully recovered the result of which brought on her death.

Burial was made in Amber cemetery Saturday, May 8. Rev. C. E. Burdine was in charge of service. Beam & Miller Funeral home conducted service from Amber church.

Casket bearers were Edwin Sieveka, Allan Serbusek, John Hansen, George Voorhies, Merle Buckner and Sievert Sievertsen.
