June 17, 1943 - The Anamosa Journal

A requiem high mass was sung Saturday morning by Rev. P. J. Behan at St. Patrick's Catholic church for Janet Foley who passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 9. Pallbearers were Allen Weiss, Milton Chesire, Glen McLaughlin, Lewis Fay, John Hayes, and Charles Niles. Interment was made in Holy Cross cemetery with Loder's Funeral home in charge of the service.

Janet Foley was born Aug, 9, 1896, the daughter of W. B. and Anna Welch Foley. She died at the home in which she was born. Her illness was of several months' duration. Her entire life was spent in Anamosa.

She received her early education in the Anamosa schools, later going to the Sister school in Phoenix, Ariz. She also attended Mount Mercy junior college in Cedar Rapids where she took up the study of music.

Two sisters, Margaret, Mrs. J. D. Fredell, and Mary, Mrs. J. M. Dower and two brothers, John and Leo, preceded her in death.

Surviving are four sisters, Josephine of Anamosa, Winifred of Des Moines, Florence, Mrs. H. W. Stuhler, and Bertha, Mrs. M. F. Hogan, both of Monticello; and one brother, James D., Portland, Ore.
