Mrs. Mino Zimmerman, 56, died Thursday at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, as a result of burns suffered in an accident at her home near Olin last Wednesday morning. Mrs. Zimmerman's clothes caught fire when kerosene which she was using to start a fire exploded. She suffered third degree burns, which covered nearly two-thirds of her body.

Funeral service was held at the Loder funeral home, Anamosa and St. John's Lutheran church, Olin, Saturday afternoon. Rev. A. E. Sommer, Olin, was the officiating pastor. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran cemetery at Wayne. Casketbearers were Thomas Hansen, Chester Sarby, Vernon Woodard, Hubert Shankland, Al Thumma and Sam Tarbox. Mrs. Leonard Hartwig, accompanied by Mrs. Rasmussen sang "Take Thou My Hand, Dear Father, and, "Let Me Go."

Sophia Catharina Dirks was born Jan. 4, 1888, daughter of Dietrich and Grace Dirks, near Langworthy. She was baptized March 10, 1888 and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church, Wayne township, March 23, 1902.

She married Mino Zimmerman Oct. 24, 1907. After their marriage the Zimmerman's made their home on a farm near Center Junction for a number of years. Following one year spent near Martelle the family moved to the present homestead north of Olin, where they have lived for the last 22 years. A year ago they moved to the home near the Newport bridge.

Surviving are her husband, Mino, and 11 children. Six daughters are: Mrs. L. M. Frankfort, and Mrs. Harold Houstman, twins, Anamosa; Mrs. Marion Byers, Olin, Mrs. Bud Soper, Anamosa; Mrs. Richard Luck, Oelwein, and Elnora, at home. Five sons are Louis, Clarence, August and Minehart, Olin; George of the Merchant marine; John, at home.

Also surviving are three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Gerd Dirks, Langworthy; Mrs. Will Dirks, Amber; Mrs. Will Oltman, Anamosa; John Dirks, Amber, Henry Dirks, Anamosa and Gerd Dirks, Wyoming. In addition there are 13 grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
