Funeral service for Margaret Zimmerman, 71, who died Friday at her home in Anamosa, was held Sunday at the Smykil funeral home and St. Paul's American Lutheran church. Rev. H. L. Buesing officiated. Burial was at Wayne cemetery. St Paul Ladies' aid sang "Rock of Ages", and Martin Nelson and Rev. Buesing sang, "In Jesus' Garden." Ladies aid formed an honor guard both to and from the church. Casketbearers were Marvin Harms, Robert Eilers, Willis Schafer, Leo Bohlken, Albert Johnson and Herman Harms.

Margareta Brokens was born April 9, 1872, in Wayne township, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Brokens. She was baptized May 26, 1872, and confirmed April 3, 1887.

On March 6, 1890, she married Ralph Zimmerman, Monticello. Soon after their marriage the couple moved to a large farm three and one-half miles north of Anamosa, which remained the residence of both for life, and is still the home of two sons. Twelve children were born to the union, two of whom died in infancy. Mr. Zimmerman died in July, 1935.

She was a member of St. Paul's American Lutheran church, Anamosa, since its organization in 1923 and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid society.

Survivors are five sons, Henry, William, Fred, Rudolph and Louis Zimmerman, all of Anamosa; five daughters, Anna, Mrs. John Dirks, Amber; Hannah, Mrs. Paul Eilers, Anamosa; Emma, Mrs. George Schafer, Langworthy; Henrietta, Mrs. William Harms, Amber; Sophia, Mrs. Wayne Rosencrans, Anamosa; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Burrock, Arlington; Mrs. George Bodeker, Amber and Mrs. Anna Stadtmueller, Monticello, 21 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and friends and neighbors.
