4 May 1944 - The Anamosa Journal

Paul O'Brien, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. O'Brien, Olin, was found dead in Seattle, Wash., Dec. 18, according to word received his his parents last Monday. No details of the death were given.

O'Brien went to Bremerton, Wash., to work in the shipyards following his rejection by the armed forces because of poor eyesight. Last letter his parents received from him was postmarked 9 a.m., Dec. 18, saying he was going to Seattle to do some Christmas shopping.

Failing to hear anything from him, his parents notified authorities at Seattle, and later made a trip to Seattle in person.

Letter from the coroner there came in answer to a letter they had written to him requesting information, and included photographs of their son.

Surviving besides the parents are three sisters, Rosemary, Des Moines; Mrs. Margaret Goodrich, Chicago, and Mrs. Katherine Bean, Knoxville, and a brother, James, in the signal corps, believed to be overseas.
