OXFORD JUNCTION--Richard Henry Jones died at his home here Tuesday morning, June 30, after a long illness. Mr. Jones would have been 88 years old the Fourth of July.

Mr. Jones was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 1854 and came west to Massilon when a young man. He was married Jan. 1, 1882 to Miss Minnie Bowker, Oxford Mills.

They made that town their home for 19 years, where Mr. Jones had a position with the Milwaukee railroad. He then purchased a farm three miles south and operated that until 1913 when he retired to his home here in Oxford Junction. Mrs. Jones died in 1920.

Funeral service was held last Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church with the Rev. Edward Holyoke, Maquoketa, in charge. A quartet, consisted of Mesdames Thomas Hunwardsen, Hans Ahrendsen, Fred Sacora and Fred Lasack, sang, "Peace, Sweet Peace," and the Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. Ahrendsen sang a solo, "God Will Take Care of The." Mrs. LaVern Carson accompanied them at the piano.

Following were in charge of the flowers: Mrs. Emil Schultz, Donna Lea Shedek, Betty Goldsmith and Mrs. Ralph Ales, Lost Nation. Casketbearers were: Henry Mowry, Vern Cram, Ed Hunwardsen, Fred McClure, G. E. Luffingwell and Charles Allen. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Survivors are three children, Mrs. Addie Cave, Leroy and Chester H. Jones, all of Oxford Junction; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
