MARTELLE--Floyd J. Thomas, 50, died at Mercy hospital in Anamosa on Friday, Dec. 28.
Funeral services were held at the Hunte Funeral home in Springville Sunday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m.
Officiating at the services were Rev. Charles B. Willming, Anamosa. Pianist was Mrs. Metitha Atherton, Springville. Mrs. Norris Louig, Whittier, soloist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."
Interment was in the Springville cemetery.
Casket bearers were James Pavelka, Louie Bobst, Oscar Tennyson and Leonard Gordon.
Floyd James Thomas was born to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thomas on Oct. 3, 1912, in LaClede county, Mo. Family moved to Olin, Iowa, when Floyd was 7 years old. He spent most of his life in the Olin and Martelle vicinity. He graduated from Martelle high school with the class of 1932. He was a member of the Methodist church in Martelle.
On Nov. 4, 1937, he was married in Springville to Miss Margaret Larson.
He was engaged in farming until 1955, when he moved into Martelle. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his father, Albert Thomas, Springville; and four brothers, Herbert, DeWitt; Otis, Clinton; Paul, Madison, Wisc. and Ralph, Des Moines.
