Lillian Byerly, 45, died at her home in Anamosa Friday, Sept. 18, after an illness extended over a period of 10 years. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Homer E. Dalrymple at the Loder Funeral home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Burial was in Antioch cemetery.

Lillian Byerly was born in Jones county and was an Army nurse in World war I. For ten years after the war she devoted her time to civilian nursing. She served as superintendent of nurses at St. Luke's hospital in Davenport and as assistant superintendent of nurses at John McDonald hospital in Monticello.

Surviving are her mother, Mrs. W. M. Byerly; four brothers, Claude Byerly, Waterloo; Lee Byerly, Monticello; Jay and Guy Byerly, Anamosa, and five sisters, Mrs. Floy Tourtellot, Dallas Center; Mrs. Grace Johnson, Algona; Mrs. Beulah Miller, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Roy A. Russell, and Mrs. George Mills, Anamosa.
