Walter L. "Jim" Miller, 83, Anamosa, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 1:30 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. J. Ellis Webb will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Forest cemetery.
Pallbearers include J. F. May, Elwyn May, James Whitmore, Delbert Grafft, Ivan Raymond and Howard Hart.
He was born Sept. 3, 1879, son of Elias Miller and Elizabeth Barnard Miller, near Morley. He was married to Daisy McCleary, Morley, on Jan. 16, 1906. She preceded him in death in 1938.
He was married to Mrs. Luana Ellwood, Oct. 16, 1946, at the Methodist parsonage, Anamosa. He had lived in the Morley vicinity before moving to Anamosa. He had lived in Anamosa for the last 24 years. He had worked as a carpenter.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge, Anamosa lodge No. 46, A.F. & A.M. and the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife, Luana; one daughter, Iva, Mrs. Ray Morning, Olin; one brother, John Miller, Lisbon; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Others include four step-children, Marvin and Dwayne Ellwood, Marion; Ralph Ellwood, Anamosa; Beryl, Mrs. Lawrence May, Anamosa; and 11 step-grandchildren.
Besides his first wife, Daisy, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
