WYOMING--Judson T. Swordes, 71, died at his home, Wednesday evening of last week. Although he had been in ill health for the last six years he was able to meet his son in Cedar Rapids that morning when he came home on a furlough.
Mr. Swordes was a native of Monmouth, but for many years the Swordes family home was at DeWitt. He came to Wyoming about 35 years ago and followed the occupation of a plastering contractor. He also served as a director of the Wyoming Telephone Co.
Survivors are his wife Mrs. Agnes Swordes, three sons and one daughter, Dale, Maquoketa; Harold, Anamosa; Pvt. Charles, Camp Claiborne, La., and Mrs. Ruth Bergum, Mounds, Minn., seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Service was held Saturday afternoon from the Swordes home with the Rev. E. G. Steinman, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.
