Funeral service for Nick Schwirtz, 65, were held Monday morning at St. Patrick's church, Anamosa.

Mr. Schwirtz died late Thursday afternoon at Mercy hospital, following heart attack on April 11.

Services in charge of Loder funeral home. Burial was made in Holy Cross cemetery.

For more than 40 years, Mr. Schwirtz resided in Anamosa, running a blacksmith shop until 1921 when he went to Reformatory as foreman in the blacksmith shop.

Surviving are his widow and five children, Mrs. Harold (Evarista) Stelzer, Springville; Bernell Schwirtz, Springville; Miss Mary Claire Schwirtz, Red Lake, Minn.; Joseph Schwirtz in U.S. Navy, Chicago; Mrs. R. E. (Helen) Beall, Center Point.

Nick Schwirtz was born Sept. 8, 1878, Bellevue, a son of Joseph and Christine Dettermann Schwirtz. He attended St. Joseph parochial school there. On Sept. 16, 1903 he married Miss Lula Lienen at St. Patrick's church, Anamosa; Rev. Robert Powers, officiating.

Surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Miss Anna M. Schwirtz and Sister Emma Aquina, both Lacrosse, Wis.; W. J. Schwirtz, Creston, and Frank H. Schwirtz, Bellevue.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Nick Weis and brother, Benjamin J. Schwirtz.

Rosary service was held Sunday evening.
