OXFORD JUNCTION--Funeral service for Nicholas J. Weber, 85, was held Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart church with Rev. Father Joseph Gregor in charge.
Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Vit Lasack, Anton Herda, John Shedek, Michael Souhrada, Herman Tech and Frank Kolarik.
Mr. Weber died early Saturday morning after a long illness at his home here. He was born in Bohemia Nov. 27, 1857, and was united in marriage there to Clara Novotny in 1887. After two years they came to America to make their home and for a time farmed in the Keystone community near Monmouth, later purchasing a farm at the edge of Oxford Junction where they lived until 1920, retiring then to the family home in Oxford Junction.
Mr. Weber is survived by his wife and 10 children: Anton, Berwyn, Ill.; Julian, California; Ed, Joplin, Mo.; John, Davenport; Lieut. Isadore Weber of the United States Air corps at Seattle, Wash.; Francis, East Moline; Mrs. Ed Koob, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Ellsworth Green and Mrs. Richard Wolters, Davenport and Mrs. Robert Powelka, Oxford Junction.
Mr. Weber had been baptized in the Catholic faith in Bohemia and had always maintained his membership in that church.
