AMBER--Gerhard Folkers Ulferts, 64, died at McDonald hospital in Monticello Monday evening at 9 p.m. He had been sick with diabetes for the last six years.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1877 at Rispel, Ostfriesland, Germany. He was baptized on Oct. 28, 1877 and confirmed on April 14, 1892, at Leerhafe, Ostfriesland. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Arend Ulferts.

He emigrated to the United States in 1893 and came to reside with his sister, Mrs. Etta Behrens, Monticello.

On Dec. 10, 1914, he was married to Martha Catharina Kray by Rev. Christoph Mardorf. They lived on a farm in Cass township for 16 years and for the last 11 years at his present residence in Wayne township.

Survivors are: Mrs. Ulferts, three brothers and two sisters, Ulfert Ulferts, in Germany, Henry Ulferts, Cass, Johannes Ulferts, Cass, Mrs. Etta Behrends, Monticello, Mrs. John Prull, Monticello.

Funeral will be Friday, April 24, at 1 p.m. at home and 1:30 p.m. at Wayne Zion church. Rev. F. H. Kehren will officiate. Casketbearers will be Alfred Folkerts, Henry B. Bohlken, James Kraus, Folkert Melchert, Adolph Dierks and Henry H. Poppe.
