WYOMING--James Bickford, 80, Onslow, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, following a lingering illness, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Jan. 12, at the Wallace Funeral home, Wyoming.

He was born Oct. 21, 1881, son of Matthew and Sara Bickford, Jackson county.

He was married to Maggie McCarty Sept. 4, 1902. Couple made their home on farms in Jackson and Jones counties until moving to Onslow in 1944, except for three years spent in Oklahoma.

Survivors include five children, Carrell, Onslow; Matthew, Stanwood; Dillon, Onslow, Mrs. Fred Welch, Onslow and Mrs. Neoma Nabb, Maquoketa.

Others include a half-brother, Manville Edwards, Zwingle, two sisters, Mrs. Edna Schwartz, Anamosa, and Mrs. Nellie Nabb, Maquoketa, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 7, 1961.
