September 20, 1962 - The Anamosa Eureka

Mrs. Laura Emma Boots, 76, Anamosa, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Stoecker's Custodial home, Anamosa.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m., at the Methodist church, Anamosa. Rev. Ellis Webb officiated at the service. Burial was in Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa, had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers included Harry Rumple, Robert Marsh, Marvin Marsh, William Marsh, Galen Eilers and Keith First.

Music was provided by Mrs. Ellis Webb.

She was born Aug. 28, 1884, daughter of Thomas Learn and Minerva Willise Learn, West Union. She was married Aug. 28, 1902, to Matthew E. Boots, sr. She lived her married life in West Union, Oelwein, Monticello and Anamosa. She was a member of the Methodist church, Anamosa.

Survivors include four daughters, Helen, Mrs. Wilbur Loehr, Delhi; Berniece, Mrs. Lee First, Anamosa; Myrtle, Mrs. Fay West, Burlington; Nettie, Mrs. Henry Hunwardsen, Cedar Rapids; two sons, Matthew Jr., Anamosa; and Lester, Independence.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Dell Kuhens, Fayette; and Mrs. Thomas Miller, Lime Springs; two brothers, Levi Learn and John Learn, both of West Union; 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Feb. 6, 1950.
