Joseph Herman Chadwick, 62, died at Mercy hospital in Anamosa Monday morning following a stroke suffered Thursday. Born to Mr. and Mrs. David Chadwick on Dec. 1, 1879, in Anamosa, Joe had lived his entire life in the same home built by his parents who were Anamosa pioneers.

He had been employed as a printer and pressman by the Metropolitan Supply Co., for more than 30 years, first in Anamosa and later in Cedar Rapids. He was employed by the Anamosa Journal for a number of years under Shubal Monger and worked occasionally for the present owners. He was for many years a member of the Anamosa band.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias at Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are a brother, Herbert D., and a sister, Nettie, both of Anamosa.

Funeral services was conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Smykil's chapel by Rev. J. K. Delahooke. Burial was at Riverside cemetery.

Casketbearers were Clyde Barker, Chris Conrad, L. A. Downing, Bert Graves, William Sughart and Jay Walterbeck.
