Funeral services were held for Wayne M. Stoner, 63, of Oxford Junction on Tuesday, May 19 at 1:30 at the Hayden Funeral Home. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Hamann officiated at the services.

Mr. Stoner died Saturday, May 16 at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa. He was born July 11, 1917 at Independence, to Franklin and Lillian Schmock Stoner. He attended schools in Independence and then worked on a farm for his uncle.

He then worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for several years, and then drove truck for a grocery store. In 1951 he moved to Oxford Junction and drove for Mizaur Trucking. He operated the Westside Lounge for 12 years and retired in 1977.

Stoner is survived by his wife, Mildred, of Oxford Junction; one son, Warren of Oelwein; three daughters, Charlott of Oelwein; and Barbara and Darlene of Martelle; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan of Des Moines and Floyd of Montana and two sisters, Wanda, Waterloo, and Ramona of California.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers were Richard Benhart, Francis (Finn) Chaika, Melvin Latare, Vernon Steffens, Vernon Shedek and Charles Crane.
