September 2, 1943 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral service for Mrs. R. M. Peet, who died early Wednesday morning at her home west of Fairview, will be held at her home Friday afternoon, Sept. 3, at 2:30 o'clock.

Rev. Homer E. Dalrymple will conduct the service, and Loder funeral home will be in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Wilcox cemetery.

Final rites for Mrs. R. M. Peet, 82, who died Wednesday of last week at her home west of Fairview, were held there last Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Homer E. Dalrymple officiated and arrangements were in charge of Loder funeral home. Burial was in Wilcox cemetery near Viola.

Mrs. Peet was born Carrie Bell Carbee in Linn county Sept. 12, 1861. Her parents, William and Harriet Smith Carbee, were natives of New Hampshire who pioneered to Iowa in 1850. Her father served in the Civil war, becoming Captain of Company H, volunteer infantry regiment and lost his life at Champion Hill, Miss., May 16, 1863.

Mrs. Peet was the last of a family of three children, a brother and a sister preceding her in death. Her mother died in 1879.
