MARTELLE--Jesse Walker Peek, the youngest son of Wilson and Mary Sloan Peek, was born April 9, 1896 near Waterford, Ill., and died Jan. 3 at the age of 73 years.

He was married to Eva L. Harn, Lewistown, Ill., Jan. 24, 1897. To this union five children were born, three of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Peek, the son of a Civil War veteran, had been a farmer until eight years ago when he suffered a broken hip.

He leaves his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Verda Pederson, Mount Vernon and Dolley M., at home; three grandchildren, Stanley Pederson, Mount Vernon; Mrs. Alberta Hartley, Davenport; Pvt. Maynard York, Army Air corps; two brothers James, Cuba, Ill., and Bart, Peoria, Ill.

Funeral service was held at the Martelle Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. with Rev. C. D. Boggie, Springville, officiating. Burial was at Norwich cemetery.
