MORLEY--Mrs. Henry L. Smith died at her home in Morley last Friday at the age of 86 years.

Interment was at Green Center cemetery with service conducted by Rev. C. L. Windsor, United Brethren pastor. Casket bearers were Arthur Free, Leonard Bixler, Joe Hora, Ray Embree, Otis Siver and Al Siver.

Born Aug. 4, 1855, Amanda J. Pfeiffer, daughter of George and Barbara Pfeiffer, in a log cabin on the farm in Rome township, Jones county. With her parents, Amanda endured the hardships of pioneer life.

March 18, 1877, she was united in marriage to Henry L. Smith. To this union were born four children, Mrs. J. R. Bickerstaff, Morley, Herbert Pfeiffer, Morley; Henry Delbert, on the home farm in Rome township and Kenneth Orville, professor in State Teachers college, Mont Clair, N.J. Mr. Smith and the four children survive. At a revival meeting held in the Green school house by Rev. R. C. Stephens, Amanda joined the church of the United Brethren in Christ as a small girl. She remained an active church member until death. For many years she taught a Sunday school class and was a member of the Ladies Aid society.

Persons from a distance who attended the funeral were: Dr. Kenneth O. Smith, Mont Clair, N.J.; Misses Gertrude, Marie and Margaret Roderick, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Roderick, Decorah and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lane and Bobbie, Blairstown.
