February 1, 1962 - The Anamosa Eureka

Mrs. Grover Stroud, 59, Anamosa, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a lingering illness.

Rev. J. A. McMahon will officiate at high mass Saturday, Feb. 3, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Anamosa. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.

Rosary will be recited Friday, Feb. 2, at 8 p.m., at the McNamara Funeral home, Anamosa.

Pallbearers include Tony Aller, Mike Brewer, John Merritt, Kenneth Rands, James Connolly and Keith Shifflett.

She was born Catherine Regina, Aug. 15, 1902, daughter of Herman and Augusta M. Zachary Brockman, Alburnette. She was married Oct. 7, 1929, to Grover Cleveland Stroud at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Anamosa. She had lived her entire life in Jones county.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church, Altar and Rosary society of St. Patrick's and Arthur McCullough Legion auxiliary, post No. 13.

Survivors include her husband, Grover; one daughter, Mary Catherine Stroud, at home; a foster son, Glen Simmons, Anamosa, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Magdelin.
