Funeral services were held for Mrs. Antonie (Toni) Shimanek, 93, of Oxford Junction at 11:00 on Wednesday, October 29 at the Hayden Funeral Home, Oxford Junction. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. Officiating clergyman was the Rev. W. Kenneth Hamann of the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Shimanek died Sunday, October 26 at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa. She was born at Table Rock, Nebraska on October 13, 1887 to James and Frances Blecha Sibel. She spent her youth in this area.

Pallbearers were Otto Koranda, Ervin Hansen, Ronald Balichek, Leonard Benischek, Francis Shimanek, and Jerry Mulvihill.

On February 19, 1913 she was married to Joseph Shimanek in Pawnee City, Nebraska. They farmed in Minnesota until moving to Oxford Junction in 1920. They also farmed in this area. Mrs. Shimanek was one of the first cooks in the Oxford Junction School hot lunch program. She always had a large garden and raised many flowers. She was a member of the ZCBJ.

Mrs. Shimanek became a resident of the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa in August, 1977.

Survivors are one son, Charles of Cedar Rapids and one sister, Mrs. Frances Bondrasek of Table Rock, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
