Hubert P. Shankland, 90, died at Anamosa on October 13, 1980.

He was born near Olin May 1, 1890, the son of Issac and Clara Smith Shankland. After attending rural school, he farmed with his father until entering the army in W.W.I, serving in France.

After returning home he again farmed with his father. On June 3, 1926 he married Zilda Clay at Stanwood. The couple farmed near Olin until retiring to Morley where they lived at the time of his death.

Hubert was a member of St. Paul's Methodist church, and a 50-year member of the Blayney Miner American Legion Post #412 of Olin.

Surviving are his wife Zilda, two sons, Lyle and Alvin, Morley, two granddaughters and one grandson.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, two brothers and one sister.

Services were held Thursday, October 16, 1980, at 10:30 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Olin with burial in Olin cemetery. Rev. Fred Richardson officiated. Mrs. Glen Hansen was organist. Pallbearers were Glenn Bendon, Ivan Duncan, Byron Darrow, Paul Ketchum, Garland Capron and Clifford McGuire.
