Mrs. Laura S. Rhatigan died at her home in Anamosa Tuesday at 4:20 p.m. at the age of 85. She had been in ill health for three years.

Requiem mass was read at St. Patrick's Catholic church by Rev. P. J. Behan Wednesday morning. Service was held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Smykil home for Funerals. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery.

Casketbearers were Guy Foote, B. I. McLaughlin, Neil Conmey, John Machart, Jacob Zubrod and William Hayes.

Mrs. Rhatigan was born Laura Boots, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boots, at Sycamore, Ill., on Jan. 26, 1857. When she was a girl of 10 years, she came with her family to Jones county and settled near Anamosa. She was married to Edmund Rhatigan of Jones county Aug. 24, 1878 and they made their home in Anamosa. He died in 1913.

Survivors are six children: Mrs. George Dibble, Black Duck, Minn.; Mrs. Mary Fitzsimmons, Monticello; Mrs. Frank Marek, Tom and Bernard, Anamosa; and Phillip Rhatigan, Madison, Wisc. She is survived by two great, great, grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 22 grandchildren. Other survivors are three brothers, James Boots, Hopkinton; Marion and Ira Boots in Oregon state.
