Funeral service for Vernie Hansen, 63, who died April 16 at an Iowa City hospital, was held Saturday afternoon at the Hayden Funeral Home in Olin.

Rev. Fred Richardson of St. Paul's Methodist church was the officiating pastor. Pallbearers were Steve Wink, Robert Davis, Randy Stolte, Marlin Laetare, Lloyd Andre and Gale VonBehren. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.

Vernie was born on a farm near Clarence, Ia., Feb. 27, 1917. His parents were Peter and Margaret Pegorick Hansen. On Aug. 28, 1940, he married Wilma Soper at Maquoketa, IA.

They lived in Iowa for 20 years, and then moved to California where they lived for 15 years. They returned to Iowa five years ago, settling in Olin. Most of his life he followed the profession of plumbing, heating and electrical wiring.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma; one son, Jerry L., Long Beach, CA; one daughter, Judy, Mrs. Ronald Dirks, Meservey, IA, and two grandchildren, Debra and Bruce Dirks.

His parents, two brothers and a grandson preceded him in death.
