Funeral service for Freddie Appleby, 69, was held April 15, at the United Methodist church in Olin, Rev. Edward Peterson officiating.

Mr. Appleby died April 12 at an Anamosa hospital following a short illness.

Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello. Pallbearers were Duane Sills, Cliff Sills, Dennis Fields, Michael Fields, Paul Appleby. Mrs. Mervin (Mary Ann) Chamberlin was organist and Loren Hartwig was soloist.

Freddie, son of John and Sarah Huggins Appleby, was born Feb. 14, 1911, at Hopkinton, IA. He was married to Luella Boots on Dec. 26, 1931, at Monticello, IA.

They lived in Jones County all of their married life.

Surviving him are his wife, Luella, six daughters and six sons: Vivian, Mrs. Robert Mason, Olin; LaVonnie, Mrs. James Fields, Cascade; Bernadean, Mrs. Robert DeWald, Oxford Junction; Paul, Cedar Rapids; Lois, Mrs. Rudolph Ulferts, Cedar Rapids, Cletus John, Cedar Rapids; Merajo, Mrs. Charles Lewis, Selsbie, Texas; Larry, Olin; Allen, at home; Thomas, Cedar Rapids; Timothy, Olin; Mary, Mrs. Duane Kaplan, Olin; 37 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Thereasa Henderson, Marion; Mable Peck, Hopkinton; Wilma Tharp, Iowa City; and Stella Sills, Marion.

His parents, one son, three grandsons, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
