Funeral services were held for Ed Kostechek, 85, of Oxford Junction at 1:30 on Friday, March 21 at Hayden Funeral Home. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. The Rev. Ramon Booth of First Assembly of God Church, Cedar Rapids, officiated at the services.

Mr. Kostechek died Wednesday, March 19 at Mercy Hospital, Davenport.

He was born near Wyoming on September 11, 1894 to Frank and Anna Koranda Kostechek. On February 14, 1917 he was married to Bessie Balichek at Oxford Junction. They first farmed north of Oxford Junction, until moving to town in 1918. He then worked for the creamery and then for the local lumber yard for many years. He retired in 1970.

Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Emma Dolazel, Oxford Junction and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife, parents and one sister.

Pallbearers were Edward Straka, Robert Mizaur, Robert Fowler, Emile Burian, James Furne and Kenneth Lasack.
