Final rites for Charles Henry Sherman, 81, who died Tuesday at 3:10 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Woodward, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Beam and Miller chapel. Rev. J. K. Delahooke, pastor of the Methodist church, will be in charge.

Mr. Sherman suffered a stroke last Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Born Jan. 26, 1860, near Anamosa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sherman, he had lived all his life in Jones county. For many years he followed the trade of blacksmithing and farmed near Anamosa.

He was baptized in the Baptist church in Anamosa and in 1879 was married to Mary Elizabeth Reed who preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 1937.

Mr. Sherman is survived by four of his eight children: Mrs. Woodward and Charles Sherman, jr., Anamosa; Earl Sherman, Monticello; Paul Sherman, Los Angeles, Calif., 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One brother, Albert Sherman, Delhi, also survives.
