Gilbert D. Jones, 71, died March 9, 1980 at Cedar Rapids.

Services were held March 13, at 11:00 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Olin, with burial in the Olin Cemetery. Rev. Fred Richardson officiated. Loren Hartwig was soloist and Lori Mapel was organist. Pallbearers were Larry Jones, Richard Frazier, Larry Easler, Keith Nanke, Gary Nanke and John Nanke.

Gilbert was born near Olin on March 3, 1909, the son of Earl and Ida Dodge Jones.

He attended Sand Hill rural school and Olin High School and on June 22, 1929 married Ruth Larkey at Cedar Rapids. The couple lived in the Olin community all of their lives. Gilbert was employed by High Grade Food Products Corporation as a cheese factory manager for the midwest from 1942 until he retired in 1969.

He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and has been a member of the Olin Lions Club for many years.

Surviving him are his daughter, Mrs. Walter (Sharon) Savickey, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; three granddaughters, one sister, Mrs. Velma Switzer, Olin, and one brother, Vernon, Scotch Grove.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, and two sisters.
