Final rites for David Smith, 80, Des Moines, former Jones county resident, were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's church with Rev. P. J. Behan officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. Smykil Funeral home was in charge.

Mr. Smith died Saturday night in a Des Moines hospital following a fall which resulted in a broken hip.

Born in Jones county, he lived both in Center Junction and Cass township before moving to Des Moines 25 or 30 years ago. His wife preceded him in death a year ago.

He is survived by a son, Harold and two daughters, Mrs. Harriet Morford and Mrs. Davina Goodrich, all Des Moines; three brothers, Alvin and William, both Center Junction and Ben, who lives in Oregon and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Doran, Springville and Mrs. Ellen Cranz, Davenport. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. J. F. Althen, Anamosa, and of Mrs. Will McDonald, Los Angeles, Calif., who is visiting in the Althen home.
