Funeral service for Lewis Ray Smith, 50, who died Saturday at the University hospital in Iowa City after a long illness, was held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Smykil Funeral home. Rev. E. A. Schlaman, pastor of the First Baptist church, was in charge of the service.

Burial was in Riverside cemetery and pallbearers, all employes of the Anamosa Poultry and Egg Co., where Mr. Smith had been employed, were George Fegan, Neil Norton, John Steenhoek, Arthur Austin, Neil Townsend and John Van Amburg.

Born Jan. 30, 1891, near Martelle, the son of Silas and Esther Smith, Mr. Smith had made his home for the past 20 years in Anamosa where he has been employed by the Anamosa Poultry and Egg Co. during those years. He had been poor in health for some time and was taken to the University hospital about five weeks ago.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel; three sons, Roy, Fredericksburg, Donald and Richard, at home; two brothers, Will, Van Metre, S.D., and George, Alburnett; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Rich, Wacoma, and Mrs. George Switzer, Marion, and one granddaughter.
