Funeral services for Cecil I. Hay, 64, was held Monday morning, February 18, at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Mr. Hay died suddenly Thursday night, February 14, at his home in Olin, following an apparent heart attack.

Burial was in the Forest Hill cemetery. Casket bearers were Wayne Vernon, Kenneth Brokaw, Newton Hollingsworth, Truman Ellefson, Floyd Neal and Leonard Austin. Rev. Harold Sherman was the officiating pastor.

Cecil was born Feb. 7, 1916, in Jackson township, Jones County, IA. His parents were Archie and Mabel Meeks Hay. He graduated from the Morley High School in 1934.

On August 25, 1939, he was married to Myrtle Hunter at Waterloo, IA, and the couple farmed in the Forest community for 31 years before moving to Lisbon, where they operated a restaurant for a year and a half. Since then they have lived in Olin, where Cecil was employed by Standard Oil, and recently by the B. L. Anderson quarries.

While farming, he was active in 4-H work and served as a leader and county committeeman. He was also secretary of the Forest Hill Cemetery Assn. He was an avid sports enthusiast.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle, and three children, Mrs. Maynard (Coleen) VanAntwerp, Morley; Bruce, Monmouth; and Susan, Olin. Five grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Mrs. Hay is manager of the office for the Olin Telephone Co., and Susan operates a beauty shop in Olin.
