Funeral services were held for Lorenz C. Ahrendsen, 90, of Oxford Junction, at 10:30 on Tuesday, February 26, at the United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Massillon Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Hamann officiated at the services. Hayden's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Otto Koranda, Fred Benhart, Richard Wink, Ferdinand Burda, Ronald Hansen and David Flory. Mrs. Kenneth Hamann and Mrs. Otto Koranda sang at the services and Mrs. Richard Woelfle was organist.

Mr. Ahrendsen died Saturday, February 23, at the Anamosa Care Center.

He was born November 23, 1889 near Wyoming, the son of Henry and Margaritta Hansen Ahrendsen. He attended school at Pleasant Hill rural school and the Oxford Junction schools.

On January 27, 1916 he married Mathilda Rohwedder. They farmed all of their married life south of Oxford Junction, until retiring to Oxford Junction in 1950.

Because of ill health, he recently was a resident at the Clarence Nursing Home and then the Anamosa Care Center.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a 55 year member of Zealous Lodge, AF and AM.

Survivors are one son, Hans of Oxford Junction; two grandchildren, Mrs. Clyde (Karen) Miller of Owensboro, Kentucky and Richard of Clarence; two great-grandchildren and one sister, Christina Ahrendsen of Oxford Junction.

In addition to his wife and parents, those preceding him in death were two sisters and one brother.
