Funeral service for Mrs. Wilhelmina Hammer, 78, who died suddenly Tuesday about 12:30 p.m. at her home, is being held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church. Rev. H. L. Buesing will officiate and burial will be at Riverside cemetery. Smykil Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers are Mrs. Hamer's grandsons, Orlie Workman, Leonard Hamer, Lloyd Hamer, Ralph Hamer, Harry Lerch and Roy Lerch.

Mrs. Hamer was born in Germany on Sept. 17, 1862, and was married to John Hamer on Dec. 18, 1882, in Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Hamer came to the United States in 1890, landing in New York on April 14.

They went directly to Lowden, Iowa, where they made their home before moving to Anamosa 24 years ago. They farmed in the vicinity of Anamosa for a number of years before retiring and moving to Anamosa.

Mrs. Hamer is survived by her husband and 10 children, Mrs. Lena Herren and Emil Hamer, both Anamosa; Mrs. Anna Workman, Paul Hamer, Otto Hamer, William Hamer and Henry Hamer, all Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Minnie Miller, Toddville; Mrs. Elizabeth Lerch, Ely and Charles Hamer, West Liberty. Three children preceded her in death.
