OXFORD JUNCTION--Martin Homolka, 81, died Saturday evening at Mercy hospital at Davenport where he had been taken for treatment nine days before after a long illness. He had been a resident of the Oxford Junction community for more than 60 years.

Born In Suchdal, Bohemia, Nov. 11, 1869, he came to America and directly to Oxford Junction when 19 years old with several young boy companions. He was married to Mary Milota, Oxford Junction, Oct. 28, 1884, and for some time Mr. Homolka worked for the Milwaukee railroad. Later he purchased a farm near Massillon where he live until, with his wife, he retired to the present family home here in Oxford Junction.

Surviving are the widow and one son, James, Oxford Junction. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. W. A. Wolgemuth in charge of the English service and Antone Vanicek speaking in Bohemian.

Singers were Mrs. Thomas Hunwardsen, Mrs. Fred Sacora and Mrs. Fred Lasack with Mrs. James Kotlinek as accompanist. They sang "In the Garden," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Rock of Ages." Those having charge of the flowers were Mrs. Ed Clausen, Mrs. G. H. Cress and Mrs. Fred Fritz. Pallbearers were Vince Sabotka, Fred Wasoba, Frank Hodoval, Joe Kotlinek, Herman Tech and Vinch Burda. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.
