August 14, 1941 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral service for Mrs. Charles Elliott, 85, who died Monday about 11:30 p.m. at her home after a long illness, was held Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's church with Rev. P. J. Behan officiating.

Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Prairieburg. McNamara Funeral home was in charge.

Casketbearers were Chris Dirks, Frank Hayes, Lawrence Conmey, William Donnelly, Milton Chesire and Karl Mershon.

Mrs. Elliott was born May 25, 1856, near Prairieburg and had lived her entire life in the vicinity of Prairieburg and Anamosa. She was married in Prairieburg to Mike Marek who preceded her in death.

In 1926 she was married in Anamosa to Charles Elliott who survives. Other survivors are an adopted son, Wes Marek, and six grandchildren, Anamosa; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Kula and Mrs. John Marek, both Prairieburg, and Mrs. Lizzie Poppish, Nampa, Idaho, and one brother, Frank, Prairieburg.
