John E. Holub, 89, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Anamosa Care Center.

John was born near Wyoming on February 9, 1890, the son of Joseph and Mary Marek Holub. He attended rural school and graduated from Wyoming High School.

On December 2, 1919, in Wyoming, John married Erna Westphal. The couple farmed in Jones County all of their married lives, moving to Wyoming in 1949.

John was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Zion Brotherhood and enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling until very recently.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one infant child and one sister, Elma.

John is survived by one sister, Mary Levsen, Olin; one brother, Lumir Holub of Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Zion Lutheran church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, with Pastor James A. Mattson officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Manwiller, James Westphal, Charles Westphal, Jerry Holmes, Robert Streeper, and John Burhop, Jr.
