27 July 1961 - The Anamosa Eureka

OXFORD JUNCTION--Frank Nowachek, 78, Oxford Junction, died Sunday afternoon, July 23, at a nursing home in Maquoketa following a lingering illness. Body was brought to the Hayden Funeral home, Oxford Junction.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 26, at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist church, Oxford Junction. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Pallbearers included Fred Burda, James Wosoba, Hans. H. Petersen, Robert Nowachek, Fred Mizaur and Lumir Wosoba.

Hymns were sung by Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen and Mrs. Otto Koranda. Mrs. Fred Lasack was organist.

He was born in Oxford Junction Dec. 28, 1882, son of Bert and Anna Slouha Nowachek. He was married Jan. 15, 1908, to Tillie Pegorek. Couple farmed north of Oxford Junction for 35 years.

Following the death of Mrs. Nowachek in 1942 he retired to make his home in Oxford Junction.

For 15 years he was the street commissioner. He was a member of the Z.C.B.J. Bohemian lodge.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter; Raymond, Baldwin; Edward, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Ruth Burroughs, Baldwin; a sister, Mrs. Anna Wosoba, Miles; a brother, Fred, Wyoming, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife; his brother Jim, and two sisters.
