July 27, 1961 - The Anamosa Eureka

VIOLA--Mrs. Frank Studer, 72, Viola, died Saturday morning, July 22, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 24, at Hunte's Funeral home, Springville. Rev. Charles Willming, Anamosa, officiated at the service. Burial was in the Wilcox cemetery, Viola.

Pallbearers included her nephews, Keith White, Donald Johnson, Robert Duncan, Darwin Meeks, James Sinkey and Milton Meeks.

She was born March 29, 1884, daughter of Richard B. and Malinda Byerly Johnson, In Jones County. She attended the Antioch grade school and graduated from the Anamosa high school with the class of 1904. Following her graduation she taught in a number of rural schools in Jones county including the Antioch school she attended as a child.

Feb. 3, 1909, she was married to Frank Studer, at Anamosa. Couple spent the greater part of their married life in and around Jones county. In the early 1930's they moved to Viola where they had lived since.

She served as postmistress at Viola for 14 years until ill health forced her retirement in November 1956.

Survivors include her husband, Frank, Viola; one brother, Vern Johnson, Oxford Junction, a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and six sisters.
