OXFORD JUNCTION--Arthur M. Butler, 54, Cedar Rapids, former resident of Oxford Junction, died Saturday morning, July 15, at his home in Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 18, at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church, Oxford Junction. Dr. E. A. Piper, of the Lutheran church, officiated. Burial was in the cemetery at Olin. Legion services were held at the cemetery. Hayden Funeral home, Oxford Junction, was in charge of the service.

Pallbearers included Legion members, Otto Lasack, Ervin Hansen, Gale Peters, Emile Pavlista, Charles Crane and Bernard Struck.

Hymns were sung by Mrs. Otto Koranda and Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen. Mrs. Fred Lasack was organist.

He was born Aug. 24, 1906, son of John and Elizabeth Butler, Olin. For several years he was employed by the late R. E. Hill on the Oxford Mirror as a lineotype operator. He served three years in World war II.

He worked with the Stamates Publishing Co., Cedar Rapids, and later on the Cedar Rapids Gazette, where he was employed at the time of his death.

He was married Oct. 28, 1942, to Norine Williams Sobotka. He was a member of the Wapsie post American Legion and Zealous lodge A.F. & A.M. and at one time a member of the United Brethren church, Olin.

Survivors include his wife; one son, John, 15; two step-sons, Dick Sobotka, serving with the Air Force in Los Angeles, and Robert Sobotka, Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren and a brother, Harold, Scotch Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
