Sophia Countyryman, 93, passed away Friday October 12, at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa.

Sophia was born in Jones County, Iowa, on November 11, 1885, to Jens and Maria Christiansen. Most of her early life was spent in Nora Springs, Iowa. On February 7, 1912, in Minnesota, Sophia was married to Orlando Countryman. She worked as a cook in Morse's Restaurant for many years and then did housework and babysitting for many years around the Wyoming community until she entered the nursing home.

Sophia is survived by one sister, Mrs. Francis (Bertha) Packard, Mason City, Iowa, the Paul Huston family of Wyoming, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Helen; three sisters and three brothers.

Services were held at the Hayden Funeral Home in Wyoming on Monday, October 15, at 1:30 p.m. with burial in the Wyoming Cemetery. Rev. Dan Johnson officiated. Pall bearers were Verlon Huston, Dennis Huston, Richard Huston, Clifton Huston, Daniel Huston and Adra Lane.
